WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This workshop finds the model for figure painting in naturally expressive poses, creating a definitive atmosphere of mood and emotion. Through the painting process a delicate balance will be struck between revealing too much and not enough detail. We will learn to see more of the shape rather than the exact human form and will define shape in terms of medium vs large and brighter vs darker.

BIO

Ron Hicks' works have been characterized as a blend of representational art and impressionism, some critics comparing them to paintings by Rembrandt and Daumier.

Ron Hicks was born in Columbus, Ohio and was drawn to art at an early age. He attended classes at the Columbus College of Art & Design on scholarship. He eventually moved west and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art and studied at the Art Students League there. After a period of time working as a freelance illustrator and as a manager for a satellite dish company, he now paints full time. To view his work go to www.ronhicks.com
