Wilds Art Center
THE GROUNDS
Wilds Art Center opened May 2007. It is located on 22
acres west of Loveland, Colorado. Our gardens and close proximity to the
Devil’s
Backbone
rock formation have made the property a favorite for plein air groups and
workshops. The art center, itself in the gardens, is peaceful inspiration for
furthering your artistic direction. The building matches the Italianate
influence of the 100 year old ivy- covered mansion (Wild Lane Bed & Breakfast)
and carriage house.
HISTORY
This estate has been in the Wild family for 130 years and was left to Steven Wild in 1990. With a degree in landscape/horticulture from Colorado State University, he established his garden and landscape vision for the property. The Wild mansion became a bed & breakfast in 1993. More artistic influence arrived on the scene when Steven married Lanette in 1996. With a background in art beginning in 1986, she has been employed as a commissioned architectural artist, and has been in various galleries and artist groups. Living in England and Wales for periods of time, she developed a particular passion for painting old English architecture.
This estate continues to evolve with future projects, notably a green house conservatory planned for 2008.
EDUCATION
Wilds Art Center offers weekly classes, one to five day workshops, uninstructed
open studio nights and many opportunities for artist networking
and
socializing. We are dedicated to the all inclusive support of the artist – both
as student and instructor, and strive to offer unexpected amenities beyond the
usual art education experience.
