To paint well one must see clearly. Scott’s simple, contemporary approach to oil painting will help you to cut through the mind’s preconceived notions and respond accordingly in paint. Learn how even artistic conventions such as anatomy, perspective, and color theory can actually hinder one’s artistic vision. Painting from life, we will begin with still life painting, and advance to the live model. Learn why painting from photographs is like kissing your spouse through a screen door. Classes will include demos, looks at historical works, and possible emotional outbursts.

Scott Freeman was raised in St Louis, Missouri and earned his Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in painting/printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1982. He has been painting full-time since 2001 and has since accumulated numerous awards. In August 2007 Scott was featured in Southwest Art magazine as an "Artist to Watch". Working primarily in oils, his oeuvre includes landscape, still life, figure and portrait work. He is also an accomplished watercolorist, children’s book author & illustrator and performance artist.
